Wake Forest Parks & Recreation Department Open House

Buzz It!
Join us for a fun filled afternoon to see all that the Wake Forest Parks & Recreation Department has to offer. This is an excellent opportunity to meet instructors, ask questions, and register for programs. Instructor demonstrations as well as group performances with current participants will take place.

Concert canceled at E. Joyner Carroll Park today

The concert by Big Fat Gap scheduled for 5 p.m. today at the town's newest park is canceled due to inclement weather, according to the town's Web site.
The concert was set to mark the grand opening of the first phase of the 117-acre E. Carroll Joyner park off Harris Avenue. The concert will be rescheduled, but a date was not announced.
UPDATE: The concert has been rescheduled to Sunday, Aug. 30, 5 to 7 p.m.
Newest park in Wake Forest is already a hit with one local photopgrapher

It's not even officially open yet and already E. Carroll Joyner Park is already getting attention for its beautiful design.
Local photographer Kaitlin Roten ( @2point5d ), who owns 2point5d Photography, has recently staked out some great backdrops for outdoor photography in the Harris Road park (Great photos after link).
Since moving to Wake Forest I have been looking high and low for great places to take portraits. Finally, after six months I have found the perfect place to take LOTS of portraits! Not officially, but soon, Wake Forest is getting a new park, the E. Carroll Joyner Park. It is has this great stone wall, barn, and huge trees that are just waiting for my next shoot.
