About Us

Destination Wake Forest is meant to be an online meeting place for people who live here or want more information about our town. It is not a news site. It is an information portal which brings together the diverse sources of information on the Internet. This site strives to be current and useful, and to achieve that we ask our users to be our “eyes and ears” on what’s going on in Wake Forest and surroundings. That is why we have opened up the posting capabilities to you. Have something to promote such as a pig pickin’ or community yard sale? Please add it. Posting is easy and open to any registered user, and anyone with an e-mail address is welcome to register. We do ask that you review our Acceptable Use Policy and Privacy Policy before registering because they provide the guidelines for posting new items and commenting.

Ultimately, Destination Wake Forest intends to provide a user experience unlike any other in the area. We hope that you will find it easy to navigate and helpful. If there’s something you see that could work better, please use the Contact Us form to let us know.

Founder Biographies

Dennis Hebert
After a long standing love affair with Wake Forest, Dennis was able to move here in 2001. With a background in technology and the need for a creative outlet, he was ecstatic when approached about creating a Web site dedicated to the town. His hope is that the people of Wake Forest find the site so useful and clickable, that he can retire to Florida, lounging on the beach and sipping Margaritas all day. When not toiling away in front of a computer screen, Dennis enjoys photography, gardening, and anything to do with Disney. He lives in town with his wife and three children.

Tim Lavallee
After a decade-long career as an award-winning print journalist, Tim Lavallee changed careers to be a teacher. It is a profession that has brought him great reward professionally and personally. He is a husband and a father, and the thing he enjoys most about living in Wake Forest is the strong sense of community. While working at a private school here in Wake Forest, Mr. Lavallee noticed that there were many different Web sites with disparate information about the town he called home. There were news, business, and government sites, each with its own unique information. It was never easy to remember what links or information was on which site. That’s when he conceived the idea of Destination Wake Forest. It was to be a virtual coffee shop where people could meet and share information.
