Want something fixed? There's an app for that

Is there something around town that bugs you and you'd like see it fixed? You know, that one pot hole you keep hitting or the traffic light that never seems long enough. Maybe you'd like to see a sidewalk repaired or a crosswalk added someplace.

There's a way to record these wishes using the See, Click, Fix ( @seeclickfix )app. we've added. Take a look at the bottom of our front page (location may change) and see what we're talking about.

This is a neat, Google Maps-based way to make note of the things around town that need some fixin'. The hope is that the local public works authorities - town, county, state - will access this database and add it to their "To-Do" lists.

What's more, you can vote on items that are already listed if you'd like to see them fixed, too. And you can add your comments on why you'd like them fixed.

This is a great way for the community to report on and interact with each about these issues. We hope you enjoy it, and always, please feel free to leave feedback

New login options

It is now much easier to login or create an account here at Destination Wake Forest. No more worrying about remembering yet another username/password combination if you already are a member of Facebook or Twitter. We've also moved the login area to the right sidebar to make it much easier to find.

Users will now see that they can login using their existing Facebook or Twitter accounts. Just click on either button and follow the steps. If you are logged in at the time, each service will direct you through the process. Facebook users will have a seamless experience, while Twitter users will be directed to a page that asks them to "Deny" or "Allow" access.

Why would you want to do this? Well, for starters, there's the benefit of not having yet another login and profile to manage. It also makes it easier to share links with these networks.

RSS feed now free of ads

The experiment with Google ads on the RSS is over. If you were previously subscribed but annoyed by the glob of black ads, you can rest assured that they are gone.

Ideally, we'd like to get rid of all the Google ads on this site, and populate it with a nice mix of local businesses. But the Google ads are our primary funding source at the moment.

We do offer ad spaces not yet shown on the page, and many are very affordable. One last pitch for local ads: We are averaging over 1,800 visits per month with 1,300 of them unique visitors, and 5,000 page views.

If you would like to advertise, please let us know using our contact page.

Check out our calendar and give us feedback

Some regular visitors may have noticed that we recently added a calendar to the right-hand column of Destination Wake Forest. This is just one way we are trying to help you keep track of all that's going on in town.

You can expand any of the items by clicking on its name under the date. Then, just click it again to make it shrink.

If you have an event you'd like to see there, please send it via our contact page. You can use that to send us feedback there, too!

We're easier to find on Facebook

We finally got around to establishing a "vanity" URL for our Facebook fan page: http://www.facebook.com/destinationwakeforest/.

If you haven't yet become a fan of our page, please do. While there, scroll through our fans list. You might find someone you know!

Report community issues with See, Click, Fix

Have you seen something around town you think needs to be repaired or improved? Is there a really nasty pothole or a traffic signal that seems too short for traffic to flow well? Just click on the map below and follow the instructions. The report will be filed with See, Click, Fix and hopefully the correct government agency will address the issue.

If you click on one of the map pins and agree that something needs attention, you can vote in favor of it in one click.

Be sure to let us know what you think about this feature by using our Contact Page.
